This easy-to-grow perennial is a winner, one of the most gardenworthy in the perennial border. It has long-blooming cheerful yellow flowers on 18” stalks. Attractively toothed leaflets are arranged palmately, 5 to 7 per leaf and have lighter green undersides. They stay green as long as they receive water.
This native perennial grows well in many parts of California and can handle many different water regimens. Slender cinquefoil can supply pollen and nectar to native bees and can bloom late in the summer, with supplemental irrigation. It sometimes spreads from rhizomes and is easy to grow from seed though the seeds can take up to six months to germinate.
